Assistive Technology

At Urban OT Group, our Occupational Therapists support individuals through the assessment, trial, prescription, and implementation of assistive technology solutions designed to improve independence, safety, and participation in everyday activities.
We provide recommendations across low-cost, mid-cost, and high-cost assistive technology, ensuring equipment is appropriate, safe, and compatible with the individual’s needs, goals, abilities, and environments. Our recommendations are personalised and consider each person’s physical, sensory, cognitive, and functional requirements.
Through comprehensive assessment and equipment trials, we aim to identify practical solutions that enhance independence, promote safety, and support individuals to participate more confidently at home, in the community, and within their daily routines.
Assistive technology recommendations may include:
-
Manual mobility aids – Wheelchairs, walkers, walking frames, and walking sticks
-
Powered mobility equipment – Powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters
-
Transfer equipment – Hoists, standing machines, transfer aids, pool hoists, vehicle transfer equipment, toilet frames, and mobile shower commodes
-
Vehicle modifications – Equipment and modifications to support safe access and participation as a vehicle passenger
-
Seating solutions – Electric lift recliner chairs, supportive day chairs, and shower seating
-
Pressure care equipment – Pressure cushions and pressure-relieving mattresses
